Step Out!
Israel had left Egypt after over 400 years in captivity. Picture the relief and joy of freedom, and the expectations of a completely new life.
The call to step out
But Pharaoh wasn’t done with them — he would make a last attempt to bring them back to servitude. You know the story; the Egyptian chariots (and their riders) drowned and God wrought an incredible miracle. It was a complete victory!
But Exodus 14:15 has a vital lesson. Israel was completely overtaken by fear when they saw the enemy on their heels. They ran out of ideas and cried to Moses, who in turn cried out to God. The response?
“Tell the people of Israel to go forward.” — vs 15.
Do you feel stuck in your situation? Are you helplessly waiting for a sign from heaven that has refused to come? Maybe there’s one thing you have not considered doing: GO FORWARD.
Risk is right. ‘Waiting on God’ is not a Christian excuse for not taking actions. Sometimes we hold back and don’t act our faith. We hold back and assume God has not answered our prayers. But He already did.
“Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear” — Isaiah 65:24
Growth happens when we step out… in faith
The Christian life is faith-filled. It wasn’t enough for Israel or Moses to cry out to God. God was calling them into a new dimension of faith; one they weren’t familiar with. And sometimes, God calls us into that level, where He wants us to act on purpose.
Taking a step of faith should not be mistaken to mean acting presumptuously. On the contrary, it’s actually God’s way of building our faith.
If we don’t step out of our comfort zone, growth can never happen. Click to share this.
One of my favourite posts is Convenience Makes No Sense. When God was calling me to quit my job security and step into a career path that require trusting Him each day a time, it was difficult.
Over the past nine months, I’ve experienced significant personal growth because I chose to step out.
Will you go forward today?
Don’t feel stuck in your dilemma. After all prayer and fasting is done, maybe it’s time to make the move. Abraham didn’t understand the full picture when God called him out of his hometown to a journey that would change the entire human race.
Your journey might just turn out to be bigger than you think. But that will never happen unless you take the first step.
Question: What’s the biggest fear factor that keeps you from stepping out in faith?

From a homeless, near-school-dropout to living a story worth telling. Purpose is my passion. What's your story?
Amen amen amen, I triumph into the unknown tomorrow with many plans in my heart yet above them all God’s will be done, amen!
Amen brother!
Fear of rejection by others and fear of failure are probably two of the biggest fear factors for me. It helps me to keep my eyes on Jesus and to remind myself that even he was rejected by many!
Very true. Grace abounds to you.
