My Wife, The Christmas Party And A Love Story

This evening, I missed my company’s Christmas Market and End of Year Party to run takeaway errand for and spend time with my wife… the things we do for love, innit!

But at no time did I feel like I was missing anything. A colleague said to me when I told him I wasn’t staying, “Some things in life are more important than Christmas parties” And I couldn’t agree more! I mean, it was a shame I was missing the sumptuous food, great laughs, networking with colleagues and the once-a-year opportunity to be served hotdog by my CEO. But hey, this is my wife we are talking about here and would pass anything to be with her.

As I went about my love-errand business, I got thinking:
How about God?
Are we that eager to be with God?
Are we that willing to let all else go to heed the Master’s errand?
Are we that passionate to forsake the momentary satisfaction of earthly pleasure for the eternal joy from and with our Creator?
Do we long for Him each day like a deer pants for flowing stream?

We clearly have a stronger and better love story than our marriages and relationships; a Saviour gave up His life, a Father sacrificed His only Son, a God redeeming a people. That’s a love story that’s worth your attention and commitment. If you’ve experienced it, so glad for you. If you haven’t, what are you waiting for?

And oh lest I forget, wifey loved the Thai takeaway special I got her; rice adorned with king prawns and special vegetable sauce… it’s her favourite!
