You Need a Growth Mindset to Unlock 2024

2023 has been an incredible year on a personal level; both incredibly successful and equally challenging. And I’ve learned you cannot have one and not the other.

From taking new risks that unlocked awesome opportunities and blessings, to being stretched more than I’ve ever been.

Tough experiences make you a better person

Truth is, there is no success without a corresponding price to pay. Progress comes at a cost and when you are purpose-minded, you learn to embrace both the opportunities and the costs.

It’s uncommon to be promoted in school without sitting (and passing) a test. The same is true of life. The difficult experiences we face are often necessary tests to validate our readiness for the next level.

This year, I took big risks, built new relationships and routines, saw my children start new school years, changed jobs, experienced a new culture, stepped out of my comfort zone many times and mentored some intentional professionals on their way to achieving amazing success of their own. But it wasn't all smooth sailing.

I failed at some things too, experienced burnout and nearly quit new adventures. But I’m so grateful I didn’t give in or allow those moments swerve me off the path of purpose.

Instead, I stayed focused and pressed on, regardless of the doubts and fears. I did it afraid.

Don’t be quick to avoid tough and difficult experiences; when you step into them with God, they make you a better person.

Embrace a mindset shift for success in 2024

Looking ahead into the new year, I’m reminded of something I said to a group of 100+ young professionals at a seminar this month:

Who we are today is heavily shaped by our thought life. And our mindset is influenced by our association, environment, exposure and what we feed our mind.

In scarcity, embrace an abundance mindset. In times of uncertainty, embrace a confidence mindset.

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he   Proverbs 23:7.

As 2024 beckons, I encourage you to:

  1. Resolve to face your fears (not run from them),
  2. Actively take risks (not be passive) and
  3. Stay the course of your God-intended purpose and calling, against all odds.

And crucially, develop a growth mindset that will outlive and triumph over every limitation in your life.

So, let me ask you: What will you resolve and commit to from now that will help you develop a growth mindset in 2024? Let me know in the comment.

Thank you for journeying with me this year. I appreciate your readership, prayers and encouragement. Here’s wishing you a merry Christmas, a God-saturated and a growth-infused 2024.
