Living Out a Life of Faith — Part 3

From Joseph: This post is the third part of the faith and leadership series by Gori Olusina Daniel . If you’re new on the blog, visit the previous two editions of the series here and here. Find out more about Gori at the end of the post. If you’d like to feature a guest post on The Story of Hope, you can find my guidance here.

Faith is powered by obedience, not chutzpah!

Courageous obedience to God’s promptings is what activates the power of God to fulfil His word (1 Samuel 15:22). It triggers the sequence of circumstances that enable His intentions to be realised through the actions of yielded hearts.

Remember, faith is spelt A-C-T-I-O-N! Muhammad Ali could not become the heavyweight champion of the world if he did not train hard and subject himself to the disciplined preparation required to develop the skills, stamina and sense of conviction that made him believe and act like success was inevitable.

Obedience

What you believe must be reflected in what you say; and what you say must be backed up by what you do. It’s what you do, not what you say or believe that truly counts.

What is God prompting you to do?

Moses stood up to Pharoah and demanded for the release of the captive Hebrew nation from Egypt; not because he was buoyed by unbridled confidence (or chutzpah), though it may have appeared so to Pharaoh’s courtiers; but because he was acting on the revealed will, inspiration and instructions of  the Almighty God (Exodus 9:1).

Scriptures are littered with many more examples of how men and women of God, prompted and inspired by a revelation of God’s intentions, acted in line with God’s inspired guidance, despite their better judgement and initial resistance, to accomplish the impossible.

Every move of God on earth is channelled through the actions of yielded hearts. If we want God’s kingdom to come, we must yield our hearts so His will can be done in and through us.

What is God prompting you to do? Do it now! Do it without further delay, and watch God’s power flow from your obedience.

Prayer point

Father, I am open to what you would do in and through me. Help me to live with a yielded heart that will act in line with your inspired guidance. Help me to be still enough to hear, and courageous enough to act.
