Letter To My Soul
“My Dear Soul, this is a letter from me to you…
Listen while I preach to you:
Why are you cast down within me?
Why are you in turmoil?
Has your God ever forsaken you?
Has He ever forgotten you?
Why do you think He ever will abandon you?
Listen my dear Soul, let me speak to you:
Never question the presence of your Redeemer.
Many enemies surround you but your God is closer to you than they are.
Remember His past faithfulness and let that give you peace,
Remember how He commands His steadfast love in the day,
And at night His song is ever with you.
The waters seem to break over you now,
And it appears He’s forgotten you,
The oppression of your foes seem to grow stronger,
But remember the miracles of yesterday – the victories, the unexpected provisions, the unexplainable grace. Remember the unmerited favors. Remember the narrow escape from death, the massive debts paid off, the illness that vanished. Remember and rest in Him. Oh my dear soul, remember and have hope!
Let the billows come as they wish,
Let the enemies rage as much as they can,
Let the mountains fall if they so desire,
Let them ask you “Where is your God?”
For all their taunts, only still yourself and say (to yourself);
“Hope in God, I will praise Him again, and again and again… for He is my God and Salvation”
Hope, I say, hope in your GOD.
Yours in spirit and body,

Very inspiring Joseph, thanks for sharing. Reminds me of the many instances I “sit myself down” and talk to me and remind me of who He is, what He’s done and intends to do.
On a lighter note it reminds me of a time when I had me a long looong sit down and wrestled before finding breakthrough. At some point, I felt the atmosphere changing and the oppression lifting… I was so mad at the devil and decided to give him a sit down too! well…don’t know how biblical that was or if he ever obeyed but i told him that he wasn’t just going to slink off that easy after being in my business for so long..so i commanded him to stay on and listen as praised God and reminded him of his place in my life (under my feet)! After i was done..I dismissed him.. 🙂 i actually felt like he stay on and got all messed up..lol.
Anyway victory in Christ is awesome. we can come through all kinds of stuff when we learn to encourage and speak life to ourselves.
@nginaotiende:disqus All of that sounds absolutely biblical to me. You know we need to do that more often. The devil is so stubborn he needs to be reminded of his place (“…whom resist STEADFAST in the faith”). I found your experience very encouraging.

Thanks vry much for this encouragement. God is using u very much to speak to me when it counts most. Yesterday in the hospital, we lost a lady staying directly opposite us, lot of thoughts came to me. I had given up. My soul was down as regards to my mum’s condition but thank God for this word because it’s already well with our soul. God bless you Sir.
