Purpose Guy

In The Same Year…

“Now there was a famine in the land…”
Genesis 26:1 ESV

“And Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. The Lord blessed him, and the man became rich, and gained more and more until he became very wealthy. He had possessions of flocks and herds and many servants, so that the Philistines envied him.”
Genesis 26: 12-14 ESV

This is one of those verses of the scriptures that defy human understanding. In a season of famine, one man defied economics and science… I have no doubt Isaac would have made it to Forbes List… and that, in some grand style too. Call him a genius or what you will.

Let’s leave the argument of genius aside, but this guy did something we often fail to do in our season of need – he sowed! He released himself and his limited resources so he can obtain a greater treasure… And boy did he receive much more. A hundredfold blessing is serious stuff! That’s what I’m trusting God for this year (and beyond)… the grace to release despite the obvious need (and trust me, there are a few right now!) and to experience a hundredfold increase.

When God was done (or probably just started) blessing Isaac, an entire nation envied him. I’m not sure you read that. Please for your sake, read it again: “…so that the Philistines envied him” [Ah Lord, you just have to elevate me!].
God blessed him until he became wealthy. That’s another level… all these in the same year!

So…
Who says 2012 must be the same as 2011 in your life?
Who says you must experience the same defeats of 2011 in 2012?
My prayer is that you will experience new beginnings.
My prayer is that you will go from good to great.
My prayer is that you will be lifted.

Release yourself.
Give.
Serve.
Lead.
And you will reap a hundredfold… in the same year (2012)! By God, we will.
