How I Prayed On My Birthday

“Lord,

I am thankful for every friend that reminded me today on social media that I’m getting old. Lord, you know they mean well. So I pray you don’t hold it ‘against’ them 🙂

I am thankful for my wife – the woman of my dream now become my daily reality. Lord, you match people like no one else. You designed our meeting, you shaped the broken road that led us to each other, you initiated our marriage and life together. My family stands on nothing else but Christ the Solid Rock. Lord, keep us that way till the end. I’m so desperate that our hearts keep burning for You alone till we see Christ face to face.

I am thankful for the friends that You have used to shape my life; because of them I understand purpose, because of them I am a better person. They sacrificed for me, covered my weaknesses and strengthened my hands. If I have anything to offer many today, it’s because I have leaned on the shoulders of these great men and women. They humble me greatly. How can I mention all their names, for time and space fail me. But they know themselves and even better, You know them.

The first decade of my life was was shaped on the platform of promises. You designed it so.
The second decade was shaped on the platform of pain. You designed it so.
And the third on the platform of hope. You designed it so.
I have no doubt the many decades ahead of me will be glorious; a God-exalting, hope-giving, risk-taking and boundary-stretching life!

But now Lord, this I pray: help me to be faithful, to be bolder and to be stronger. Thank You for another day of significance because everyday is an opportunity to live the God-intended life.

In Christ Jesus I give thanks, amen.”

  1. I’m sure Mrs Iregbu will be pleased to know that Asher means Fortunate; Blessed; and Happy..
We will be sorting the change of name out at some point!.:)

  2. Joseph,

I was going to quote as your days are so shall your strength be… I however decided to look up another version 🙂

    Here’s my prayer for you…

    Deuteronomy 33:24-25 The Message (MSG)

    Asher:
“Asher, best blessed of the sons!
May he be the favorite of his brothers,
    his feet massaged in oil.
Safe behind iron-clad doors and gates,
your strength like iron as long as you live.

    Amen.

On a lighter note, we might be changing your name to Asher! 🙂

Have a blessed year my friend.

    God bless.

    1. Kunle
Amen to your prayers. You’re a bundle of courage yourself. We just need to get past wifey on the Asher thing! 🙂
