Feed Your Soul, Not The Snake
The health of our soul is crucial… God desires first and foremost that our soul prospers and be in spiritual health. Read how John aptly puts it: “Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.” (3 John 1:2 ESV)
For all to go well with our soul, we have a part to play. Paul reminded us that the renewal of our mind is important for the discernment and knowledge of God’s good, acceptable and perfect will.
So I ask you: are you feeding your mind spiritually or are you feeding the snake?
What do you value above God’s word? That’s a snake!
What do you place in higher priority over God in your life? That’s a snake!!
What do you cherish more than God’s presence? That’s a snake!!!
Before you disregard the issue, let me insert here that the snake can be a naturally legitimate thing, person or need in your life. It’s not necessarily a sin object but when (as a Christian) we treasure such above God, then sin is around the corner as idolatry sets in.
What you feed today will someday eat you up: whether your soul or the snake. So feed your soul, not the snake. Set your appetite on God, not on ‘stuff’.
Feed your soul with God’s treasure house (His Word) and you will be full of grace.
Feed your soul with prayer and you will be full of power.
Feed your soul with God and you will be full of God.
Starve the snake eating you up (TV).
Starve the snake eating you up (uninspiring and hope-killing relationships)
Starve the snake eating you up so that you may live.
Once you stop to renew your mind, you expose yourself and become spiritually weak. I pray you receive grace to abide in God daily. When you abide, all will definitely go well with you.
Many blessings.
