A Gift Box From My Wife

I hear today is my birthday!

Well, I’ve never been a ‘let’s celebrate my birthday’ type. Actually, I don’t remember ever calling a party for one. But I understand why others do. It’s a good thing.

What Isabel taught me this morning

This morning, I asked Isabel if she knew how OLD daddy was. She just stared at me and couldn’t care less. But when my wife started singing the birthday song, she started clapping.

Who already taught her that age is just a number? I learned something in her reaction:

Celebrate people, first, for who they are. Simple.

A gift box from my wife

Each June 1, I’m guaranteed one thing. We don’t typically do gifts but I’m guaranteed a gift box from my wife  – she pours deep, heartfelt prayers on me.

If you’re married, you know that’s special. And so this morning, I submitted myself as she poured her heart to God on my behalf.

When your wife blesses you

I was going to tell you how she prayed but I changed my mind. Allow me keep that to myself. I promise you one thing; it was GOOD and you will see the resulting fruits.

Women have a special place in God’s heart. One gave birth to Christ, another saw him on resurrection morning. While Hannah pleaded with God every year, we didn’t hear of her husband waiting with her. He didn’t take part in the discussion with Eli.

They know how to get through to God. Don’t ask me how, I just know it’s true.

When your wife prays for you, you’re indeed blessed.

Today, I’m grateful for my home – for a wife that blesses me everyday and a daughter that simply puts me in awe of God.

A man in need of more grace

As I reflected on my wife’s prayer, I realized the need for more grace to serve, more courage to lead, more wisdom to live.

I won’t quit in my resolve to inspire a generation that desperately needs hope. I won’t give up on pouring myself into others to help them live intentionally and purposefully. That’s my awesome. I was made for that purpose.

Would pray for me today?
